Gillian McClure’s career as an author and illustrator spans thirty years. Her books have been translated into many different languages and Selkie, published by Random House, won the US Parent’s Guide to Children’s Media Award. Other books of hers have been short listed for the Smarties Award and one was Highly Commended in the Kate Greenaway Award.

Some of her picture books, like Tom Finger, published by Bloomsbury, have been inspired by fairy tales. She tries to make her stories timeless and placeless yet relevant to children today.

Gillian uses her stories and illustrations to inspire children and students to write and illustrate their own books.
